Overview
AI Chat Navigator is a Chrome extension that helps users navigate long ChatGPT conversations through a searchable side panel, bookmarks, message previews, and code markers.
We are committed to protecting user privacy. This extension is designed to work primarily on-device and does not use any external backend service to process conversation data.
Information We Access
To provide its features, AI Chat Navigator may access the following information on supported pages:
- ChatGPT conversation page URL
- Visible conversation content on supported ChatGPT pages
- Basic message metadata such as message order, message preview text, and whether a message contains code
- User-created bookmarks and extension settings
How Information Is Used
The extension uses this information only to provide its core functionality, including:
- Building a local navigator for the current ChatGPT conversation
- Allowing users to search and filter message previews
- Detecting messages that contain code blocks
- Saving bookmarks and local preferences
- Scrolling to selected messages inside the current conversation
Data Storage
AI Chat Navigator stores data locally using chrome.storage.local. This may include:
- Bookmarked messages
- Local settings such as filter preferences and auto-refresh state
- Related page URL references used to associate bookmarks with a conversation
This data is stored locally in the user’s browser environment and is not sent to Navigachat servers.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or transfer user data to third parties. We do not use user data for advertising, profiling, credit scoring, or unrelated analytics.
Remote Code and External Services
AI Chat Navigator does not use remote code to deliver its core logic. The extension does not rely on external AI APIs such as OpenAI, Groq, or Anthropic APIs.
Permissions
The extension requests only the permissions needed for its functionality:
- sidePanel to display the navigator UI in the browser side panel
- storage to save bookmarks and preferences locally
- tabs to identify the active tab and communicate with supported pages
- scripting to inject the content script into an already-open supported tab when needed
- Host permissions limited to supported ChatGPT domains

Children’s Privacy
AI Chat Navigator is not specifically directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to This Policy
